Say Boo to the Flu

It’s about that time of year again. Flu season. The Say Boo to the Flu program is dedicated to bringing information to everyone about prevention of the Flu with videos, cleaning and disinfecting tips, activities for the family and listings of local Flu Vaccination Events!

What is the flu?

Influenza or the flu is a contagious respiratory infection caused by the flu virus. It is very similar to the common cold but symptoms are worse and it’s caused by a different virus.

Symptoms include:

*Sudden onset of symptoms
*High Fever
*Dry cough
*Achy head & muscles
*Extreme fatigue

Prevention Tips:

*Wash hands frequently with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds.
*Cough into your elbow instead of your hand where it’s less likely to spread germs.
*Disinfect the Top 5 Hot Spots:
-Phone receivers
-Refrigerator/microwave handles
-Light switches

For the first time ever, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded the flu vaccine recommendations to include all healthy children and youth between 6 months and 18 years old. Get vaccinated in October and November BEFORE flu season peaks!

Say Boo to the Flu program (comprised of Families Fighting Flu, Visiting Nurse Associations of America and The Clorox Company) was created to help educate families on the importance of flu vaccination and other prevention tips.

Families Fighting Flu, Inc. (FFF) is a non-profit, volunteer-based corporation established in 2004, made up of families and healthcare practitioners who have experienced first-hand the death of a child due to the flu, or have had a child experience severe medical complications from the flu.
